Garuda Indonesia Assures Customers of Affordable Ticket Price

TEMPO.COJakarta – Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra said the additional fee for air ticket prices would not reach 15 percent as allowed by the government following the surging aviation fuel prices.

The state airline, Irfan added, is committed to ensuring the affordability of airline tickets albeit it must also adjust to the current high price of airplane fuel. The adjustment will be made proportionally.

“When the price of avtur (aviation fuel) goes down, we will adjust it,” said Irfan to Tempo on Sunday night, August 7, 2022.

He ensured that the company would keep flight ticket prices affordable by referring to the upper limit tariff and lower limit tariff rules for scheduled commercial transportation.

Previously reported, the Transportation Ministry allowed jet-type airlines to increase their additional fee by up to a maximum of 15 percent of the airfare price ceiling. The regulation is stipulated in the minister’s decree No. 142 of 2022 which takes effect on August 4, 2022.

The issuance of this regulation was followed by an appeal from the ministry’s Acting Director General of Air Transportation, Nur Isnin Istiartono, to airlines to keep providing affordable flight ticket prices, let alone that the policy is optional for all airlines.
