Cambodia: Ministry of Land Management sees 6.5 pct revenue hike

The Ministry of Land Management earned nearly $98 million (390 billion riel) in 2018, an increase of 6.5 percent over last year.

According to a report presented during the ministry’s annual meeting, held on Monday at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel, revenue from cadastral administration was $11.4 million, while the ministry earned $1.7 million from land registration. Revenue from construction services equalled $4 million, while the leasing of enterprises earned the ministry $70,074, according to the report.

Meanwhile, the General Department of Taxation collected $81.5 million from property transfers.

Chea Sophara, the Minister of Land Management, said the increase in revenue was the result of the ministry’s drive to improve management of the construction sector, with a focus on increasing efficiency and safety.

“The construction sector has contributed significantly to boosting the national economy. The government has successfully strengthen land and construction management in the country,” Mr Sophara said.
