Vietnam’s Mobile World Group enters Cambodia
Mobile World Group (MWG) will launch its first store called BigPhone.com in Cambodia in the first quarter of this year, according to Viet Nam News.
The store is under construction, general director of MWG Tran Kinh Doanch was quoted as telling the English daily.
“Once operation, the store will employ mostly local people,” he said.
“Cambodia was chosen to be the first country for the group to expand in Indochina,” Mr. Doanh said, adding that it aims to increase the number of stores to between 10 and 15 in Cambodia during the first half of this year.
BigPhone.com is an easier name for people to call the store, he said.
“However, the identity of the brand, with the characteristic yellow and black tones, remains, making it easy for people to realize it is a MWG member store,” Mr. Doanh said.
Based in Ho Chi Minh, MWG was established in 2014. Its core activities include the distribution of mobile phones and digital devices through a store network and an online channel.
