Singapore: Not a great Singapore sale as retail takings in June inch up just 0.9% due to car sales

Monday, 15 August 2016 – Retail sales in Singapore eked out a 0.9 per cent gain in June compared with the previous year, largely driven by the continued strength of the car market, data released on Monday (Aug 15) by the Department of Statistics (SingStat) showed.

However, excluding motor vehicles, retail sales dipped 3.3 per cent compared with the same period a year ago.

On a month-on-month basis, retail sales dropped 1.5 per cent in June. Excluding motor vehicles, they fell by a heftier 3.7 per cent. Read More?
