Myanmar: Govt Considers Resuming Domestic Flights Depending on COVID-19 Situation

The government of Myanmar is considering resuming domestic flights depending on the magnitude of the spread of COVID-19, according to the Civil Aviation Department.

The National Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 on its meeting also discussed the possibility of resuming domestic flights, and allowing travellers, who need to travel due to urgent matters and hold COVID-19 certificate issued by the health department, without requiring to stay quarantine upon arrival.

The Civil Aviation Department extended the domestic flight ban, imposed on September 11 after locally transmitted COVID-19 cases soared starting from late August, until November 30 amid rising COVID-19 cases in the country
The country also extended the international flight ban, imposed on March 30, to November 30.
As of November 23, there are over 80,505 confirmed cases with 1,765 deaths and 59,888 recovered.
