Indonesia – Sri Mulyani: Govt to Focus on Eradicating Poverty in Q3

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that the government will focus on eradicating poverty, infrastructure development and public service improvement in the third quarter this year. “Because they will have positive impacts. In the third quarter, the government will be focusing on their implementation,” she said yesterday.

In the third quarter, Sri Mulyani said, ministries and state agencies should monitor the improvement in their programs. She said state agencies may disburse the budget according to the progress of the programs.

“Particularly priority [programs], as said by the president, among others, poverty eradication, infrastructure and service improvement,” he said. According to her, the challenges in the third quarter would be to implement the government’s commitments.

Moreover, the Finance Minister is confident that the full-year tax revenue target will be met albeit at a smaller amount compared to last year that saw the launch of the tax amnesty program. Earlier in September, the government said that tax revenue had reached Rp100 trillion.

“Nonetheless, despite lower tax amnesty yields, we still generate a positive revenue of Rp70 trillion,” Sri Mulyani said. “Tax revenues remain positive.”
