Indonesia: Gov’t Ensures Safety of Export Duty Revenue
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Heru Pambudi, Director General of Customs and Excise at the Finance Ministry explained that export duty revenue will remain safe in accordance with the target set in the 2017 State Budget despite the absence of mineral exports from Freeport Indonesia.
Heru said that the government had made an assumption that there will be no mineral and coal export activities in 2017. “[The government’s] export duty assumption set last year for 2017 does not include coal and mineral export. In extreme, no export, no problem,” Heru said on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.
Heru said that the government has set a Rp 340 billion export duty revenue target in the 2017 State Budget. Freeport Indonesia and Newmont Nusa Tenggara were named as the largest contributor of export duty for copper export.
Heru said that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise will continue to monitor the development of issues related to Freeport Indonesia. Heru underlined that the Directorate General will only serve businesses with export licenses.
“As long as [businesses] have licenses, we will serve them. Currently until today, we have not received Freeports export license,” Heru said.
