Cambodia: Grab super-app unveils food delivery service in Phnom Penh
Grab super-app launched its pilot food delivery service – GrabFood – in Phnom Penh’s central business district yesterday, which will help users connect with over 200 outlets.
The beta version will connect consumers with both local and international brands such KFC, The Pizza Company, Habit Burger Grill, Lotteria, Bonchon, Gongcha, Heekcaa, Chatime, Chatramue, Gloria Jean’s Coffee, Paris Baguette, Sakana Lab, Pong and Potato Corner.
Delivery fee right now is fixed at 100KHR regardless of the distance.
“At Grab, we strive to deliver the best consumer and partner experience across all the services we offer within our super-app. This GrabFood pilot will enable us to gather meaningful insights and feedback from a small group of consumers and partners first, so that we can quickly make improvements before scaling the service outside of Phnom Penh central business district, said Grab’s Head of Expansion Region, Corentin Rouxel.
“Our goal is to connect consumers to a wide selection of well-loved merchant-partners, and deliver good food to them quickly and reliably,” he said.
“We believe GrabFood can also contribute to more income opportunities for our driver-and delivery partners, and meaningful growth opportunities to merchant-partners. We are committed to building a thriving marketplace to support partners to grow in this digital age,” said Sovannarot Kang, head of GrabFood.
Since Grab’s entry into Cambodia in late 2017, it has quickly become a significant player in ride-hailing and express delivery.
Grab has also embarked on numerous projects with the Royal Government of Cambodia, development agencies and the private sector to help improve road safety and traffic management and support sustainable urban mobility projects.
The company’s latest expansion into food delivery is aimed at providing greater convenience to consumers and serving more everyday needs by leveraging its existing platform, technology capabilities as well as delivery and driver-network.
Grab, founded in 2012, operates across the deliveries, mobility and digital financial services sectors in 480 cities in eight countries in the Southeast Asia region – Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
